Foreclosure sales in Harris County

Harris County trustee sales follow the statewide schedule: the first Tuesday of the month, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the area the Harris County Commissioners Court has designated. Each notice of sale names the location and the earliest start time, so read the notice.[1]

Where to find notices

The Harris County Clerk publishes foreclosure postings online, searchable by sale date.

State rules

Redemption rights, surviving tax liens and tax-sale rules are set by Texas law. See how auctions work in Texas for the details and citations.

Before you bid

  1. Open the source listing and the official notice. Dates, terms and starting bids change, and sales get postponed or cancelled.
  2. Order a title search. Find out which liens the sale wipes out and which survive, such as property taxes.
  3. Read the bidding terms: deposit, how and when the balance is due, any buyer's premium, and whether the seller can reject the high bid.
  4. Plan for limited access. Many auction properties can't be inspected inside, and occupied buildings may need an eviction process after the sale.
  5. Run your own numbers before the sale. The free Multifamily and Large Apartment Deal Checks are a quick place to start.
